The bidding begins at $2,500, however the guitar can be purchased without the auction in play for $3,500. The crack was glued by the current owner, who I believe is a luthier, by the name of Hippner. Does anyone know anything about him? I would appreciate any information Darren (Hipner) is a very well known and respected builder in the Seattle Washington area. I would feel very comfortable that if he fixed it, it was done right. He has a good reputation to uphold so he doesn't need the hassle of bad stuff on the market. He probably got this guitar as a trade in on one of his own guitars. Personally, I wouldn't be too concerned about the crack. For a guitar of that age and the crack not being on the front, to me it wouldn't be a big deal. You might have him send you a picture of the area he repaired. This guitar new would cost an arm and a leg. OK, tell you what. I live in Portland a few hours from his shop. Pay my way and Ill go look at it for you!
