Cloth Ears -> 2006 Vicente Carrillo 1A Blanca (May 12 2014 10:04:58)

I chose this top example of a Vicente Carrillo 1A Blanca from a selection of four at the workshop in Casasimarro, Cuenca back in June 2008. At that time I could have bought an identical 'Paco' guitar with Paco's signature, a 'gaudy' crown carved headstock and an extra chunk of cash. So this guitar actually has six years play on on it (3 if you consider I have a negra also and alternately swap new strings week by week).The example I selected had the lightest touch and better cross grain in the side pieces (denser=better projection). The Spruce soundboard is well matured and the dry raspy sound is fully evident (it can take ten years for Spruce to fully develop its sonic qualities). It has excellent volume and projection, a balanced sound with bright and aggressive trebles, discrete but adequate bases. Length: 660 mm. Top: German Spruce Sides and Back: Spanish Selected Cypress Fretboard: Ebony from Cameroon Neck: Cedar Purfling: Indian Rosewood binding top and back Finish: Nitrocellulose Lacquer It has some minor golpe marks that are only noticeable in reflected light to the and a small amount of wear to the lacquer on the top of the sound hole from thumb upstrokes. Otherwise the finish is still very good. It comes with a Cibeles hard case. Given the age and excellent condition of the guitar I am looking for only £2400+shipping (it would cost closer to £4000 new). I live just west of London should you wish to try this masterpiece out.
