Hi Everyone, I am new to Flamenco and I am just starting out this music. I am what you call a "Late Boomer !" I always start out later in life finding and enjoying a particular interest. I have heard this type of music here & there in my life. But I decided to follow my gut and find out what this music was ? When I did I was hooked !! It may be that my Great grandfather is from Spain and my Great Grandmother is from North Africa. So I have this in my blood and exploring my family roots. I have been following this site for some time and finally decided to join. For now I am reading and researching on the music, culture and the people of this tradition. I attempt to listen to variety of different types of old & new Flamenco. I really enjoy the Cantaor’s of Flamenco with their cante. My favorite is El Camaron ! I know there are others too many to list at the moment but Thank God for Pandora !! I am starting out with a Yamaha CG171SF that I picked up from a friend who also learning & playing Flamenco. Based on this site and my other research this guitar is suited for me as a beginner. Later on in a few years I will purchase a high quality Flamenco Guitar. I live in New York & work in the city. I am trying to find others who share the same passion. In my Flamenco journey I hope to meet and learn from a great diversity of people, such as on this site who also have this insatiable thirst for music of this genre which will take a lifetime to know. But it is not the end of the journey that one appreciates but all the nuances in between….. I look forward to meeting & learning from everyone….
