Joan Maher -> Spanish Cypress (May 5 2014 9:15:43)

Hi,

I have been looking for some Spanish Cypress on the usual sites but no one seems to have any?

Any tips on where to find some? (apart from knocking down a tree in my local village cemetery)

Joan Maher -> RE: Spanish Cypress (May 5 2014 12:18:52)

Maderas Barber have some new stock so all good..

tijeretamiel -> RE: Spanish Cypress (May 5 2014 12:55:18)

I thought there's little to no cypress from Spain to buy 'new' but most of the same species of cypress comes from other Mediterranean places, a lot coming from Turkey.

Maderas Barber have a 200 Euro minimum, I think MadInter, Octopus don't have a minimum spend and have cypress in stock.

Joan Maher -> RE: Spanish Cypress (May 5 2014 14:13:25)

Yes, Madinter have none left. Barber have said it's Spanish I will double check...

Anders Eliasson -> RE: Spanish Cypress (May 5 2014 15:08:02)

Why does it have to be Spanish?
Isn´t cupresus sempervirens good enough?
There are very few cypresses left in Spain which are big enough.

Joan Maher -> RE: Spanish Cypress (May 5 2014 16:31:06)

True Anders and I agree but if they have Spanish I would choose over another.. Personal preference.

koenie17 -> RE: Spanish Cypress (May 5 2014 16:45:11)

I don´t think there is any spanish Cypress left, I´m also having dificulties with Ebony[&o] anyone else having the same problems?

constructordeguitarras -> RE: Spanish Cypress (May 5 2014 20:12:22)

www.Akustikwood.com has nice "Mediteranean cypress" at very reasonable prices.

Joan Maher -> RE: Spanish Cypress (May 5 2014 20:21:20)

Thanks Ethan I did email these people but they never got back to me...

constructordeguitarras -> RE: Spanish Cypress (May 6 2014 1:34:37)

They are very slow to respond. One time I waited a month with no response and then sent them another email with NEW ORDER in the subject and they got back to me two weeks later (saying they would be sending the order in a couple of days; and they did). It's weird, but their stuff is good and those low prices include shipping too.

Joan
If you buy wood outside EU, you normally end up with an extra 30% in tax if you import it to Spain

madinter has great cypress.

krichards -> RE: Spanish Cypress (May 6 2014 7:29:48)

Anders
Madinter are out of stock. That's why this thread started I think!

Anders Eliasson -> RE: Spanish Cypress (May 6 2014 15:38:58)

They will get some more..... I hope.[:D]

Jim Kirby -> RE: Spanish Cypress (May 7 2014 0:31:43)

A +1 for Akustikwood. Try Octopus too, also Turkish. But I've gotten my entire cypress stash from Akustikwood and am very happy with it.

Anders Eliasson -> RE: Spanish Cypress (May 7 2014 7:09:35)

I have bought from Akusticwoods as well.
It was ok. Like 2A quality from madinter...... So, living in Spain, I buy from madinter.

Joan Maher -> RE: Spanish Cypress (May 7 2014 7:47:34)

Akusticwoods; was that their 1A grade Anders that was similar to Madinter 2A?

Anders Eliasson -> RE: Spanish Cypress (May 7 2014 15:15:52)

yes.
