This has to be the most clearly planned and executed instructional video for a guitar related instrument ever. You can literally play along and after about an hour you won't believe what you can do.

It also looks to be about the least cool and the least MTV/Youtube friendly instructional video ever. And the host has put very little work into his image.

I wish there was more like this.

Ah, you missed the point then, the ugly color shirt, coke bottle glasses that's all planned it's meant to be ironic, making the coolest hippest instructional video ever!! lol [:D]

Did not go YT to see the above tutorial.
But would like to say that a good acoustic bass guitar can be a real blast to play around with.

I will certainly get me another one day, just for the shizznizz.

That's funny, I find the acoustic bass to be the most worthless kind of bass. Unplugged it's barely heard if other instruments are playing. Plugged it sounds terrible. [:D]

You'd be hard pressed to find anybody that can't master slap bass
technique in less than a couple of hours.
Its not much harder than tying your shoes, or frying an egg.

Unfortunately, you can't do it with nails. [:(]

Sounds like an accurate observation.
My experience comes from playing solo on a cheapo maple bass.

That thing was more quiet than what you´d expect already, but its sound was groovy to say the least. Totally inspiring. Coming across fuzzy like amplified, and that in the typical timbre of good old rock´n roll.

Its sound was really terrific. And for me as a studio guy that quality would have been enough to find its way into a mix if it had come to a session with fellow players.

The vibes of bass strings going through an acoustic corpus can be similar addictive like those of guitars.

Too bad that mine ended up with the top sunken in.
