Exsaris -> Hey, new member, after some advice (May 2 2014 7:43:42)

Hey everyone, been a member of the acoustic guitar forum for a month or so, as my interest is in flamenco I've been sent here!

Been playing guitar for maybe 10 years now, acoustic/electric, but the past 6 months or so I've been learning flamenco by myself on some old beater I bought on eBay, the guitar has been fine for learning basics and actually sounds quite nice! However, I'm now ready to move on, living in inverness(Scotland) I'm really struggling to find a new guitar, didn't mind buying this old thing for 50 bucks on eBay but I would rather find a shop I can play before I buy, the 2 shops here although great for acoustic and electric both have about 3 classicals and no flamencos!

So basically, looking for some direction and advice on buying in Scotland, if I have no choice but to buy online feel free to recommend a guitar/website!

Budget tops about £400, don't mind travelling further south to Glasgow/Edinburgh, tried to google Scotland flamenco so many times and found nothing! Also happy/ would probably prefer to spend my money on a better second hand guitar if possible!

Cheers all, and I will say after lurking in the background for a few days, I saw a post about rasguado, and this may strike some nerves as I've read all about it but when I 1st started learning it, I was using ruben Diaz videos lol, anyway, the post I read, can't remember the author talked about just using ami for rasguado, and not flicking off the thumb, he guy explained it like falling through the strings not so much a hard push, just a soft 1, for some reason that had helped me immensely, in 1 day I've gone from flicking off the thumb fast but with a break I couldn't seem to fill in between rolls using e(I think this is pinky!)ami, to getting a nice constant sound just brushing through the strings ami! So thank u mysterious poster! I'll try and find the post and mention by name but I searched rasguado and read so many threads that day it's easier said than some!

Wall of txt over!

Cheers
Dave

Welcome to the foro. Finding back things can indeed be a hell of a job on this foro :-)

Indeed! Does anyone know a good shop in Scotland that sells flamenco guitars?
