I have a set of Sloane Stippled Bronze classical guitar tuners up for
sale on the bay. They were bought in 2007. They are still in great
working condition. New these cost $250.

I noticed that aside from the bid and the postal charge there are also additional import charges (over 35,- already for the netherlands and on top raising with the bids).

It's a mystery to me why some american eBay sellers (have to) add import charges for europe while other american eBay sellers don't. Is it linked to the postal services hired? Anyone knows the in and outs?

In the same way it is a mystery to me how sellers from counties like China can offer 4,- products "free of postal coasts, world wide", while i have to pay 7,- or more sending a similar item to my neighbor.

The sellers can choose if they want to use the ebay international shipping service, it means they add the taxes when paying for the item and take care of the shipping for the seller. I normally like to ask seller to mark a lower value to avoid paying high taxes, when buying expensive items. [8D]
