El Kiko -> Happy St Paddys Day from Ireland ... (Mar. 18 2014 18:59:38)

Happy St. Paddys day ......

I know irs late but i couldnt post before it happened and then theres the handover bit to get around ... and well ..

I went over to see St. Paddys day in Killarney .. a wll frequented tourist place in C. Kerry ... lots of stuff ..lots of peolple ... even an American and Canadian float ....
A couple of pics maybe and a short vid ...

Also behind the Pub ..there was an acoustic sort of band doing a mixture of stuff .. but i noticed the ''drummer'' had a cajon ... in the ' sort of modern trad -pop 'style it fitted in very well I thought......

just trying to get a video sorted ..... problems ...

Interesting to see the mix of old and young and genders in the bagpipers parade. I always thought the sound of the pipes was excruciating but when a single piper is playing a dirge at a funeral usually a cops funeral it is wondrously eligiac

As most people know, I really like irish trad music, but the dancing doesnt get me. Its to stiff in the upper body.
But anyways, happy saint Patricks.
Its interesting that its celebrated in so many places. The O´Neil irish pub in Sevilla had a 3 day St Patricks arrangement.

Happy belated St Paddys Day! Still recovering. I agree with Anders with regards to Irish folk dancing, if you only showed the upper body it would look quite strange.

ah well , i suppose thats what stopped RiVerDance from becoming a worldwide success ...never mind .......[8|]

Strange, I never liked trad irish music: probably due to the civil war ( or Troubles as it is lightly known )[&o]

Time to revive this thread..

Happy St Patty's my flamenco friends (as Payo Humberto used to say). I'm not Irish myself, but my grandmother was Gallego which is like the spic version.

I'm enjoying a good stout and cider and will soon fry up some Guiness-battered cod. Wishing you guys on the Foro a splendid holiday..

Thanks Mark.
I've had an exciting day of DIY along with a rare (these days) 5 hours of practice. Can't stand the drinking culture here on Paddy's day so I stayed well away from it

Yup. St Paddys on a weekend is a nightmare out here, I'll have my Smithwicks and Jameson at home and toast to my grandparents.
