Ruphus -> Audiophile news from Neil Young (Mar. 13 2014 12:00:40)

Some complain about the sonic limitations with listening to compressed files via smart phones and mp3 players.

In fact when I went out to find me a *.wav player about three years ago, there was nothing thelike on the market except of some video players that were coincidentally capable of handling *.wav files too.

Then came up a three or so different devices from different brands, in order to fill the gap.
One of them being the Squeezebox from Logitech, which has some quirks due to not having been outlined for the immense functional variety it ended up with. But basically it is quite the player I used to dream of, and all in all I appreciate it a lot. ( Converted my CDs to flac format, tagged the files and have it all managed through the SB.)
It sure is unique in terms of bang for the money as well. ( Though now traded for considerably more even for used items.)

Unfortunately, Logitech ceased production as the company plans ( or has done already ) a simpler version.

Yesterday, I read in the news that Neil Young opened a fund raising for a *.flac player, with the collected sum superceeding expected budget already on day one.

So there will be another option for who likes to hear music lossless, maybe feed it through the stereo and connect it to the internet for DL or streaming services.

However, to my surprise not discounted in any way.
Young ( thinking of offering both, DL & streaming) plans to request for downloaded albums roughly as much as CDs cost.
DonĀ“t know why I thought he could be doing different if ever bypassing / negotiating major labelsĀ“margin policies.

Ruphus

Yeah, usually with the way flamenco is recorded you don't want audiophile-grade equipment... :)
