Wow; that´s been fiercely blunt!

I for my part would never be that unpolite. |O]

Just a skull on a tablet should be fine already. hehehe [8D]
( Always thinking of how Ringo Star once described the Queens expression when he replied to her kind question: "And you, young man, must be the leader of the band" with "I am just the drummer". He said she looked at him like thinking "Off with that head".)

Ha ha .....everyones a critic!!![:D]

Reminds me of a comedian who was being heckled one night and in the middle of his
routine someone shouted "my mother has cancer!"
the comedian stopped his joke and said "what are you talking about? That had nothing to do with my joke"
the heckler replied " I know....but its still funnier than you are!!"

Duquende's newest album Rompecabezas , paco and tomatito and sextet recreate classic camaron rumba originally on "vivire". It's pretty much note for note except Paco does some crazy picados at the very end. It's so funny I would have to say it must have been a special request of Duquende that Paco just add in some crazy speed runs for fun.

It would be greatly appreciated if you could (respectfully) keep this thread on the topic of Paco de Lucias discography.

OK, if interested in my original post it can be read in your mail folder.

You distorted a positive vision of mine into something completely else that I had not intended in this thread / in these days.
From there my decision to erase my related posts and suggest you do the same.

The thread is concerned with the late PdL's discography. Let's keep it that way.

mark indigo -> RE: Pacos Discography (Mar. 13 2014 9:43:45)

just found this on my pc. I think I have probably posted this up here before somewhere, it only goes up to 1992, and I haven't checked to see if it actually adds anything. But here it is anyway.

Ricardo -> RE: Pacos Discography (Mar. 13 2014 13:15:06)

I only keep checking first post for updates so...how could we forget? He plays with Tomatito on "Soy Flamenco", yet another resurrection buleria of Camaron.

Pimientito -> RE: Pacos Discography (Mar. 13 2014 17:57:03)

DOH!!!!!!!!! Of course he does....how could I have forgotten?
The discography is pretty crazy now, I mean thats a lot of work for only one lifetime. Added together I believe its way over 800 tracks.

Mark - I have this too. I think its from guitar international magazine, but even that was not complete at the time. It gave me a basis for the easier to find works and then I combined it with my own collection and web sources.

no, for sure, not complete. Marcos did another Paco discography in one of the old guitar mags spread out over a series of issues. I never managed to get hold of all of them but I will have a rummage and see if there's anything relevant....

orsonw -> RE: Pacos Discography (Mar. 13 2014 20:02:50)

I know this doesn't count as it's live but anyway a clue of what might have been from Paco de Lucia together with Manolo Sanlucar por bulerias.

EDIT; I was wrong it does count; see Pimientito's reply below- thank you for the education!

Well it counts because its the bulerias on Zyryab.

A quick question, Did Paco ever record anything with Ravi Shankar or Santana?

I am discovering that there are bewildering number of compilations worldwide and its going to be hard to list them all. As Mark mentioned earlier with regard to Camaron, there is the best of and Leyenda and Disco de Oro etc. It seems Paco has lots of compilation issues in different countries too.

They did a live show in 1977:

Pimientito -> RE: Pacos Discography (Mar. 14 2014 10:08:31)

I remember that show...and also Paco toured I think with Santana..or did several shows, I cant remember, but did they actually do a studio or live recording?

Erik van Goch -> RE: Pacos Discography (Mar. 14 2014 10:43:02)

Was the victoria suite already listed?

I think only bootleg stuff, which we are not counting of course. I am sure there are too many compilations which I think we dont' need to spend time listing as the material is almost always drawn from elsewhere. But at a glance at my own collection I found this:

Some random tracks of cante accompaniment I have found on compilations with singers not listed are:

Niño Brenes-sevillanas
Rafael Ortega-villancico
Alvaro de la Isla- Fandangos Camperos (de huelva style)
Juan Cantero-Verdiales
Encarna "La Sayago"-Villancico
Juan de la Loma-2 styles of Malagueña (Magna Antologia), Rondeña (Malaga Cantaora compilation).

Perhaps these come from listed collections? Or full albums?

mark indigo -> RE: Pacos Discography (Mar. 14 2014 15:16:24)

Your discography is too good, it's really hard to find anything you haven't got![:D]

Paco played on the track "Caribeña" on Niño Josele's "El Mar De Mi Ventana" album

Also I don't think you got Pepe de Lucía album "Caminando" (1983) and another called "Pepe de Lucía and Paco de Lucía" (1972)
I have them both on a 3 LP compilation CD called "Los Hijos de Luzía" put out in 2004.
"Pepe de Algeciras" is on the disc as well, or 4 tracks from it, as there are only 4 tracks listed with under that title - maybe it was an EP not an LP? Or they didn't have room for it all on the CD?

I don't have it, but Paco is listed as collaborating on Pepe's album called "Cada Dia"

They are really obscure...you say you found them on compilations of cante flamenco? Could you give a reference for each track?
I dont know if some of these come from full albums or from recordings that werent released. For example, this is an article relating to a homanaje CD to Manzanilla but i dont think it was finished or released. Its possible that tracks could find themselves onto albums from unfinished projects.
http://www.malagahoy.es/article/ocio/580986/luz/casal/la/mari/paco/lucia/y/nina/pastori/versionan/manzanita.html

Another thing that happens is that sometimes a town hall or maybe a peña in Spain will fund the recording of an album and then only make say 2000 copies. The disc immediately becomes dis-catalogued. This happens quite frequently in Spain. I have an album from the town hall of Almeria featuring Tomatito where only a few copies were made. Thats sometimes where odd tracks spring from on compilations.

Great stuff...Niño Josele too! Its all the stray tracks that are going to be hard to collect. Keep on looking!
It amazing how many of these CDs are now dis catalogued and unobtainable,. even as recently as the year 2000.
