Dimitri Stamatis -> 2001 Lester DeVoe negra (Rio) (Feb. 15 2014 0:39:23)

Hi folks.
Not sure if anyone remembers me; I've been off the flamenco grid, for 10 years. I created the flamenco-teacher.com site, back in the early days of the internets.

I want to sell my 2001 Lester DeVoe negra (Brazilian) flamenco guitar (formerly owned by Eddie Lastra).

For you flamenco-foro vetarans, who were around during flamenco-teacher.com's heyday... yes, that guitar.

It has ultra-rare, straight-grained Brazilian Rosewood back and sides, AAAAA German spruce top, and a sound comparable to only the very best flamenco guitars, in the $15-20K price range.

How's $9,500?

I've been out of the guitar scene for a while, but I see used Rio Devoes sell for $12K+, and new ones for up to $14K. I believe this guitar is the best that Lester has ever built, by a very large margin.

If anyone's interested, I'll take some pictures.

Happy Valentine's Day.
Dimitri

Hi Dimitri. I normally ask for a variety of 10 posts before posting a classified, but I make an exception for you considering your contribution to flamenco.

Please discuss anything else outside of this thread as I have to moderate each post.

Thanks Simon; I appreciate you making an exception.

I figured I'd give the old FT foro members first dibs, before I consign it for more.

I'm very happy that your forum has been going strong for all these years.

Best wishes,
Dimitri

I would consider a bit expensive as the last one I saw was 5,5k euros:

After VAT and converted from Euros to US$ the link you posted for is more than $9k, which is more than the one here.

Good luck with the sale. I played a DeVoe not too long ago, finest guitar I've ever come across.

I was hoping to be lazy, and avoid taking pics, but I guess it's unrealistic to not at least show a few pics :)

Just snapped a few pictures, and uploaded them. Sorry, if they're somewhat grainy, but they should be good enough to just for yourselves. Compare my guitar's wood to the guitar Tele linked to.

If anyone's interested, let me know, otherwise, I'll be consigning it at Guitar Solo in San Francisco.

Thanks.
Dimitri

why AAAAA spruce?

Why not AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAa .

This notation are ridiculous.

Dimitri Stamatis -> RE: 2001 Lester DeVoe negra (Rio) (Feb. 16 2014 23:32:24)

Hi El Carbonero:
I don't wish to discuss today's largely arbitrary wood grading systems. Perhaps in a different thread?

I've owned, played, and seen enough guitars in my lifetime, to recognize a true masterpiece; the magnum opus, from one of the best luthiers of the last quarter century.

Feel free to assign however many A's to it as makes you happy. I'll edit it accordingly :)

Best wishes,
Dimitri

Tele:
That DeVoe in Spain, that you linked to, has several cracks, according to the description.

Is that a fair comparison to mine?

Cheers.

I have locked this thread as I do not want to approve each comment in a discussion about a simple ad.
