Yes; we have discussed this a few times before. And you're right, it IS difficult to convey with mere words, especially the correct filing technique(s) to eliminate the 'hooking'.
When you have a few minutes (?) maybe you might consider posting a video showing us how YOU do it? I think many of us might be interested. . .
jump to the nail diagrams toward the end of this clip first. Probably you have type C nail with a hook. The hook exaggerates with glue, but also it makes the edges curve down like type A. For sure a type B nail will benefit from glue drying as it bends the nail into shape A, which is ideal. But type C nail is no problem when you slice through by filing flat or straight as he demos at the start of the video. I consider the extremities of file shape #3 or #4 have more to do with your personal angle of attack (is your wrist more bent or more straight). Personally I play with bent sideways wrist which makes me play straight on to the string. My index is more like shape #3 , but my ring finger is more like #4. My middle finger has no noticeable "ramp" goes more or less straight across the top.
