this topic comes up so often on the foro and in the real world. Here is the deal. Yes the glue dries and hardens the nail in addition to protecting it. When it dries the nail curves a bit too. This turns out to be desirable if you then learn the proper way to file the nails. THis is a VERY tricky topic (filing) as it requires 3D and difficult to convey with verbal descriptions only.

Yes; we have discussed this a few times before. And you're right, it IS difficult to convey with mere words, especially the correct filing technique(s) to eliminate the 'hooking'.

When you have a few minutes (?) maybe you might consider posting a video showing us how YOU do it? I think many of us might be interested. . .

jump to the nail diagrams toward the end of this clip first. Probably you have type C nail with a hook. The hook exaggerates with glue, but also it makes the edges curve down like type A. For sure a type B nail will benefit from glue drying as it bends the nail into shape A, which is ideal. But type C nail is no problem when you slice through by filing flat or straight as he demos at the start of the video. I consider the extremities of file shape #3 or #4 have more to do with your personal angle of attack (is your wrist more bent or more straight). Personally I play with bent sideways wrist which makes me play straight on to the string. My index is more like shape #3 , but my ring finger is more like #4. My middle finger has no noticeable "ramp" goes more or less straight across the top.

Thanks. I hadn't seen this before.

Presumably the "Pumping Nylon" guy. . .

I have his book, but the video is better. . .

Cyanoacrylate is non toxic, you can eat it or cover open wounds with it (orginally developed for surgery and used instead of stitches even today)

Well, I don't know about eating it (!), but the safety data sheet looks better than I would have expected: http://www.krazyglue.com/products/msds/mkg0583_a.htm

It doesn't specify "hand to penis" situations so I'll "stick" to Mavala, I don't mind the side effects of an hardener. [sm=tongue.gif]

Maybe the 'silk and glue' might work better for your purposes?[;)]
