There are a few cheap products on amazon for a temporary quick pickup to plug in to an amp (for jamming with others). Anyone tried any?

Not sure what you mean by "cheap" but I purchased a Bartlett Guitar Mic B for my Culpepper this past year. It was around $230 usd and its a decent mic for the money. I was looking for a pick up/mic that didn't color the sound of my instrument and the Bartlett seems to do the trick. Overall, for the money I feel its a pretty good buy. The owner of the company Bruce actually modified mine as I was looking for an on/off switch so when I tune at gig's I don't have to turn down the volume and/or unplug. It uses a 9volt battery so you can run it without any type of phantom power. The mic clips on the sound hole and you simply run the cable around the back of the guitar and the batt box clips on your belt. No feedback unless you really crank it and overall its pretty quiet noise wise...

I purchased a relatively cheap such ting in the seventies and was positively surprised about its capturing quality.

I have one of this but some previous version. That was cheap at that time I bought for about 55 bucks, and for the money it had a good sound. That's the easiest way I suppose apart from the tie mics.

Hi,
I installed on my Ricardo Sanchis Carpio a LR Baggs IBeam bridge plate pickup that is excellent. The only adaptation would be the endpin jack. I would definitely not drill a Fleta though:)
