The biggest problem I have is that in my city its hard to get a authentic Flamenco style guitar.
The ones available online cost a fortune. No entry level Flamenco here well cause this is India :).

I had to order the C40 specially but my guitar shop has not been able to get it for a week.

Now I am having second thoughts about it.

I tried practicing on my ibanez v50njp Its an entry level Acoustic, It feels like the skin of my fingers are going to peel off sometimes or I am going to break the last string. Cause I am still learning to strike it the right way.

I thought Nylone strings would be easy.

I asked around here and they told me that you need steel strings for Flamenco
So I am just confused.

Essentially I would like to know if I can just learn on a Yamaha C40 until I have learned enough to import an authentic flamenco. (the problem is time with my work I might not give enough time to practice so there is chance if I spend a fortune on an authentic Flamenco it might be lying there not doing much).

It has to be nylon.

You can learn on a any decent nylon string guitar.

Anyone recommending steel strings is a bare faced liar.

If you get a classical then you need to protect the top.

Don't worry and don't have second thoughts. You'll be fine with the C40, just set it to a lower action.

You might want to adjust it yourself or at least DON'T put the guitar on the hands of anyone who tells you that you need a steel string.

I saw a C40 The action is already pretty low out of the Box.

Ah That guy was just hanging around the guitar shop. To give him some credit he played some blues and some pretty good finger work on the C40 that made be interested in it.
He knew how to hold it flamenco style but I guess he does not know anything more than that.

The guitarshop guy told me that there is not truss rod in the Yamaha C40.
So how does one adjust the action?
Cause If I need to I need to tell them how or they will simply say its not possible.

Nylon string guitars usually doesn´t have a truss rod. The action is adjusted by the height of the bridge bone. There are 2 ways to do it.

1) Filing the bone from the top
Hereby you need to keep the exact shape!

2) Filing from the bottom
This way you need take care to have a right angle at bottom/front + back. You can do it by holding the bone in a bench vice. Better is a hand grinder with a flat bottom and rotating sand paper, fixed upside down. So you can just press smoothly the bone with you hand on the sand paper. It´s also very easy to keep the right angle.

If you made it too low, then you can lift the bone by putting veneers under the bone. If you don´t have veneers, you can use high gloss cover paper from illustration catalogs. The lifting material should be as wide as the small side of the joint.
