ORIGINAL: creem The guitarshop guy told me that there is not truss rod in the Yamaha C40. So how does one adjust the action? Cause If I need to I need to tell them how or they will simply say its not possible. Nylon string guitars usually doesn´t have a truss rod. The action is adjusted by the height of the bridge bone. There are 2 ways to do it. 1) Filing the bone from the top Hereby you need to keep the exact shape! 2) Filing from the bottom This way you need take care to have a right angle at bottom/front + back. You can do it by holding the bone in a bench vice. Better is a hand grinder with a flat bottom and rotating sand paper, fixed upside down. So you can just press smoothly the bone with you hand on the sand paper. It´s also very easy to keep the right angle. If you made it too low, then you can lift the bone by putting veneers under the bone. If you don´t have veneers, you can use high gloss cover paper from illustration catalogs. The lifting material should be as wide as the small side of the joint. Good luck!
