I know you guys are sick of me talking about rumba, but who started the whole fluid soloing over rumba flamenca chord progressions?

Was it PdL with Entre Dos Aguas? Or did it start before

Some guys have called Kema a Paco copy and I'm wondering if this is why (other than his using PdL licks all the time)

I would say absolutely. But rumbas were always popular in the Catalan region....as you know manitas was the super star of rumba guitar long before Paco came along with entre....but for sure PDL is the main influence on the next generation rumberos. They also grab stuff from modern flamencos, I have heard Nuñez stuff, vicente, Tomatito, manolo sanlucar, etc, tastefully (or not??) worked in to rumbas from france all the time.

Rumbas were popular all over Spain way before Paco started playing solo guitar rumba.
