naguabo -> Conde Hermanos value question (Jan. 10 2014 23:14:05)

Hello all,

I am considering purchasing what appears to be a 2005 Conde Hermanos estudio guitar from a dealer. I'm having trouble finding out if the price they are asking is reasonable. I've done some research but can't find much info on a guitar similar to this one.
The label is green and white and says "conde Hermanos sobrinos de Domingo esteso, atocha 53 (I'm having trouble uploading the picture I have ). There is no mention of a model number.
The dealer started at $2200 but has come down to $1600 US. The guitar has been played hard and it shows.
Can anyone offer any insight?
Thanks so much!

Austin

Take a guitar you know well and play it in the same room as the guitar you are thinking of buying. If you have a technique and an ear that can work together to find and compare then you will have a valid means of comparison.

Everything else is balls.

Sounds incredibly cheap for a Conde but I'm no expert.......

Conde estudio model shouldn't cost more than that if it's used. Usually they go around 900-1200 euros used

I withdraw my comment then [:)]. It looks like this guys on the high side of normal, which sounds about right for being imported to the US…...

estudio models should be cheap compared to the concert/pro models.
A lot of the discussions about Conde guitars don't seem to recognize or take into account that there is a wide range of models.

My ear is not trained enough to really hear the difference between a good guitar and a bad. I just know if I like it or not. I do like the sound and feel of this guitar.
I mainly just don't want to pay $1600 for a guitar that should sell for $1000.
I have included a picture of the label.
Thanks for everyones help!

Not necessarily true, depends on the condition and the original price. You can ask what was the price the seller paid and then negotiate from there. Or maybe aim to just lower a bit the price if it's tough for you.

There are a lot of sellers that see Conde on a label and then ask way over the value for a lower end model.

Try contacting Conde Hermanos Atocha 53, send a photo and ask what the new price would have been.

So the dealer has already removed $600 from the asking price, its been well played which shows and you like it but you are not sure if its overpriced/worth it .
If you have been hanging out for a certain something but you are not sure with this one then my advice is to NOT buy it.....if you don't know now then it isn't right.....there will be others and surely its worth being patient at this stage if you have been saving, looking, waiting? Try and get it right?
Good luck with it either way.

Best

Thanks for the advice.
The shop called the previous owner. He said he payed 1700 euros for the guitar new.
So the price used seems ok but not a great deal.
I didn't know Conde Hermanos sold new guitars at such a low price.
I emailed the shop and they said they sell some guitars starting at 350 euros.
Thanks for the help.

I would say $1600.00 is more than fair for that guitar and in less than perfect condition. If you are worried about reselling in the future you will probably get the same out of it. It's a student level guitar so don't expect anything out of the ordinary. With Conde student level guitars, you will be paying mainly for the name on the label. There are other guitars out there that sound much better for that price.
