I had been scouring Ebay and multiple websites (including this forum) looking for a solid wood flamenco guitar. What fun! Learned a lot about what I wanted, what to look for,
saw some wonderful guitars, etc. Spent hours doing this. So fun.

Finally, I had to just make a decision because it was bordering on obsession. The guitars I came down to were all good and I just needed
to take the leap. So I ordered an Hermanos Sanchis Lopez 2F palosantos Red. I'm very excited about it. Should arrive in a few days.

But.... since I had the flamenco guitar search saved on ebay I thought I'd just take quick look to confirm that there was still nothing I was interested in in my price range. Nooooo...
Sure, now there's a Francisco Navarro gran concierta blanca for sale for less than $1500!! And the Navarro "Reyes" model concierta negra for less than $2000!! For a few hundred more I could have had the best!!!.....
Ok I'm starting to get over it. It's just stuff.

As Sheryl Crow says "It's not having what you want. it's wanting what you have." Now I can take my shopping time and put it to the guitar itself. Whew! I needed that.

Anybody else run into this a time or three?

Yes.....[:)]
It made me very wise.....great lessons.[:D]

I think you sell your new guitar within a year for one "beter".
Along the way you save more money and within 5 years ( if you can and want to afford it) you will buy a handmade guitar.....

Just a little joking....but this is what happened to me........

B.t.w. Welcome to the foro!

Peter.

A luthier once said: why would anyone sell a good guitar? EBay is a good place to ditch a not so good guitar as the seller can stipulate no returns.
But the Navarro blanca on ebay was bought in 2006 and apparently little used which might indicate he just lost interest in flamenco. Anyway 2006 was probably before Navarro learned to tune the top from Tom Blackshear that resulted in guitars that interested Vicente Amigo so much. So I wouldn't obsess too much over that.

Should it feel like less than perfect purchase, maybe comfort yourself with how the merits of todays communication means contributed to you buying still a pretty nice guitar. ( For such money there so many duds out there, worlds apart from what you can expect with a Sanchis. In fact that brand stands for pretty resonant builds at relatively small expense.)

In the times before the internet you would have been dependent from some amateur hearsaying from your surrounding, sales blurb of guitar magazines and worst of all sales clerks in stores. With the latter often advising to your disadvantage.

Unless naturally stuffed with good sensory for lasting pleasure with instruments you could have easily ended up with some bulky specimen that would leave you regretting the purchase after a short while ( and possibly even leave you with guitar playing put to rest).

However as it seems, you can expect to have made a satisfactory purchase, despite the fact that saving a bit more and ordering from luthiers here might have yielded even better.
Still, nothing that canĀ“t made up for in the future without costing you arms & legs. :O)
