Yeah, so I've mentioned that I've been going to a flamenco school to practice drawing the dancers? Well, the owner has a sort of talent show that's really an end-of-the-year party for everyone at the school and some folks on the periphery of the school to celebrate, etc. I've gone to this two years in a row to show my paintings, practice my portuguese, and see some of the better dancers put on a mini show.
This year was a raffle and I wasn't even paying attention at first. They called the number 11 and I just happened to hear it over a conversation I was having. The owner started dancing up and down and saying "agora voce precisa dancar!"
She's been getting me to take lessons for what seems like forever because she has about 100 women and about five men. So what'd I win? A free year of flamenco dance lessons in 2014.
I called my gf after and told her that one of us had won free lessons (I was going to give the prize to her if she wanted it), but she was super happy to say hear that she'll finally have a partner (she dances tango, flamenco, and forro already).
So yeah, I start in Jan sometime. I might do six hours per week, or more. You never know aye yai yai?
