Do you think if a new genre was created that was basically rumba style songs in English performed by young, hot, slutty looking nymphettes singing and dancing around provocatively that it would be commercially viable?

FredGuitarraOle -> RE: slutmanco? (Nov. 22 2013 18:16:37)

Of course it would.

HolyEvil -> RE: slutmanco? (Nov. 22 2013 20:14:28)

??? ANYTHING with hot slutty women are commercially viable! [:D]

z6 -> RE: slutmanco? (Dec. 6 2013 13:57:43)

Can we have a lottery on who gets to do the auditions?

Why not just get a front? Then people on flamenco forums could argue blue in the face about who the real players are.

A clarion call for (female) sluts. Or you could go 'ladyboy' and drive everyone nuts.

Need a stoopid dance to go with it.

If those gals hit the 'slutty' sweetspot yer quids in.

I remember years ago being told that one of the Spice Girls answered the question, (on radio, before they 'made it') "any advice for young girls'?" And one of them answered, "never have anal sex on the first night".

When they hit, it was a much younger demographic, so they adapted (used better sound systems to flail about in front of).

One can never tell with these things. The broader media is a very closed shop. Even though they think the opposite about themselves.

Timing seems to be crucial. Luck.

Nice idea though. Sluts are always a good idea, I have found.

Rumba is more popular than traditional flamenco probably because it's more sexy.

Sr. Martins -> RE: slutmanco? (Dec. 6 2013 15:26:28)

Rumba sucks.

Most people like being sucked.

Morante -> RE: slutmanco? (Dec. 6 2013 15:32:39)

Never heard of Las Ketchup? It has all been done[:D]

Arash -> RE: slutmanco? (Dec. 6 2013 16:12:05)

I think it would be commercially more viable if Paco de Lucia would only play entre dos aguas from now on with hot nymphetes dancing around him. I would do that if i was Paco. Life is too short for all that sad complex stuff till 80.
All the nerds expecting Paco to record another revolutionary CD with never heard before falsetas,,,,wtf, too much pressure. From 60 up, its time for rumba pension imo

It's more popular because it's simpler and it's 4/4. People like simple crap they can bob their head to not complex music. That's why even Entre dos aguas can't outsell Ottmar....

Sluts are good just don't have kids with them. You don't want them raising your kids.

Would that be yo tango passion por la musika slutmenca. ha ha hahhhh.

I'm funny I know laugh.

pjn -> RE: slutmanco? (Dec. 8 2013 4:11:49)

"Off Topic" --- way off topic. But the problem here is the supposed grown-ups who should know better posting replies.

mark74 -> RE: slutmanco? (Dec. 8 2013 5:15:17)

I had forgotten about them and maybe they were in the back of mind when I was thinking about this. Apparently they had a number one hit in 2002 in the United States and several European countries, but they were a one hit wonder. Still, its been proven to be viable

mark74 -> RE: slutmanco? (Dec. 8 2013 5:18:31)

And what makes this an adolescent question?

Traditional flamenco can't make much money in the United States, so I'm curious about alternative business models that could exploit flamenco in some way..I'm not saying I'm in any position to do anything about it, but I'm curious and like exploring ideas

Sluts playing Rumba seems like it would be commercially viable and it probably would be though it would take a bit more patience and time to invest in than the sluts occupying the auto tuner market.

I took my wife to see Paco when he was playing in the area. It was probably one of her favorite concerts (definitely more than Joshua Redman who we saw a few weeks ago). I don't think Paco is too complex, his stuff is pretty easy to follow, even for a layman.

Besides, Entre dos Aguas is passe. There's no drop.

Math rock has gotten pretty popular lately. Look around, thing aren't that bad.

Ignore the things on TV and the radio, both of those are becoming increasingly obsolete and irrelevant.

Miguel de Maria -> RE: slutmanco? (Dec. 9 2013 16:45:17)

Sounds like your wife is pretty sophisticated. When I saw Paco last May, I felt most of what he played was over my head. Another guitarist friend of mine agreed it was very "heady" playing and hard to connect with. On the other hand, I enjoyed the harmonica player and dancer greatly.

chester -> RE: slutmanco? (Dec. 9 2013 21:42:16)

I don't claim to have 'understood' or able to replicate in any way what Paco plays, but I think his music is very accessible to people who don't necessarily know what the correct compas por buleria is (or what compas IS for that matter).

To me, Jose Manuel Leon is much 'headier' and more 'sophisticated'. I think that that's what makes Paco so great, that his music is accessible to a layman AND has real flamenco 'cred'.

mark74 -> RE: slutmanco? (Mar. 31 2014 3:34:51)

This is something I still think about from time to time...a lot from time to time

Doitsujin -> RE: slutmanco? (Mar. 31 2014 6:48:38)

did you know that slutmanco means slutslut in japanese? .. You are so dirty sir :>

Ricardo -> RE: slutmanco? (Mar. 31 2014 15:09:44)

While being degrading to women, it is also disrespectful to the art.

But since you just can't let it go, I share with you:

Well that certainly gave palmas a new connotation
