I was going to upload a video and then discovered it had been posted here before. I found this replacement

Hey Ricardo you sh1t stirrer.

Probably sounded great in the room despite the horribly overdriven recording. But what always bamboozles me is the fact that he breaks each and every line before the downbeat on the Llobet at the start and indeed this affectation colours most of the material.

Also strange is the way that he seldom seems to instigate a change of musical direction with the emergence of a motif but seems to change course midstream. Unsettling for the attentive (precious ?) passenger, like a gear change or breaking on a turn

Anyway despite various opinions that is a more interesting piece of archive than the two docs which I have seen.

So good find, a pretty fascinating and instructive piece of historical footage.

Wrong again. Trail breaking is standard practice in MotoGP racing. But you really really better know what you are doing.

As for as Segovia is concerned, he sure fooled a lot of people.

I never tire of being wrong in your opinion.

Also pretty important that it is appropriate to the vehicle you are in.

Not so much as he once did.

Well Ricardo opened the door and the foro seems in hibernation soooo:

Miguel de Maria says he goes totally crazy here and I would agree. I get the impression that here is a gifted player who has toed the line as far a the canon of classical guitar and wants tor break out but can't compose his own works so takes the standard repertory and mangles it.

Shroomy, the chaconne is one of the handful of pieces of music that has reduced me to tears, I recently heard a piano rendition of it that was surprisingly good but violin is definitely my favourite.
Johannes Brahms once said in a letter
"On one stave, for a small instrument, the man writes a whole world of the deepest thoughts and most powerful feelings. If I imagined that I could have created, even conceived the piece, I am quite certain that the excess of excitement and earth-shattering experience would have driven me out of my mind"

Leñador -> RE: the real deal (Nov. 20 2013 23:29:36)

Just listened to it for the first time, AMAZING!!

I feel like I hear Bach spoken about much more from guitarists then other muscians, is there a reason for this?

Aretium -> RE: the real deal (Nov. 20 2013 23:34:46)

I know right? I play 80% flamenco 20% Bach on my guitar. EDIT "I try to play" :D

I was expecting "Andres Segovia shreds"

disappointed!

Miguel de Maria -> RE: the real deal (Nov. 21 2013 0:17:17)

Check out Grumiaux playing the Chaconne (violin). Incredibly spine-tingling intonation. Very austere playing.

The awesome thing about classical music is there have been so many geniuses and we still can hear and study their music. Flamenco has Paco, but classical has dozens of people that were his equal.

Bach is popular on guitar because of at least three reasons:
1. it's excellent music
2. Bach wrote for guitar-like instruments (no other great composer did)
3. Bach's music tends to work independently of the instrument for which he wrote it

Okay, now I have to learn Lara's Theme, for a Life Celebration Event I just booked today... :)

according to Segovia, he was traveling to Japan via railway accross the continent and he used the time to edit this piece. Pops and clicks abound.

oh, never mind[8|]

...and Aeolus, prior to your constant spamming of the FLAMENCO forum with endless classical guitar vids, I didn't really have anything against classical guitar, and occasionally listened to some, but since you seem to be constantly ramming classical guitar down everyone's throats on a FLAMENCO forum, and I am here 'cos I like FLAMENCO, I am starting to really dislike classical guitar intensely. Not only are you not selling it, you are having the opposite effect, on me at least.[:@]

Reading my posts is not mandatory. Just walk on by. Or report me to the moderator.
and did you note that my first post on this thread was of Paco? And it was Recardo that posted Segovia video.

I've always wondered about how useful the green "block" button is.... and how many other members you need to block before threads become completely unintelligible and there's no point checking the foro at all....?[&:]

Miguel,
I must say I am very impressed with your taste in music and musicians. I think I have every recording Grumiaux made. He was simply the best.
