tijeretamiel -> RE: Cocobollo or Granadillo? (Nov. 17 2013 21:39:07)

Cocobolo's latin name is most commonly known as Dalbergia Retusa, but there is variant known is Dalbergia Granadillo also known as 'Black Cocobolo'. These are 'true' rosewoods. There is another tonewood known as Grenadillo latin name Platymiscium pinntatum, which isn't a 'true' rosewood. The two guitars you have look like very nice Cocobolo (Black Cocobolo) to my eyes. Cocobolo is only found in Mexico, Granadillo I think is found elsewhere. Black Cocobolo is really highly regarded in the acoustic guitars, very rare and expensive, especially in the quality of your two guitars. How do the guitars sound? Are they heavier or lighter than other negras?
