Cocobollo, or Granadillo - Are these two woods virtually the same, or are the distinctly different?

I have two hand-built (Mexican) guitars that I understood were Granadillo; but someone has suggested that maybe the woods are in fact Cocobollo.

The same person advised that Mexican builders frequently confuse the two woods..

Can anyone advise what woods they think these two backs are built with?
The pic attached is as close as I can get to the actual colour.

Cocobolo's latin name is most commonly known as Dalbergia Retusa, but there is variant known is Dalbergia Granadillo also known as 'Black Cocobolo'. These are 'true' rosewoods.

There is another tonewood known as Grenadillo latin name Platymiscium pinntatum, which isn't a 'true' rosewood.

The two guitars you have look like very nice Cocobolo (Black Cocobolo) to my eyes. Cocobolo is only found in Mexico, Granadillo I think is found elsewhere. Black Cocobolo is really highly regarded in the acoustic guitars, very rare and expensive, especially in the quality of your two guitars.

How do the guitars sound? Are they heavier or lighter than other negras?

They both have very powerful sound, very rich, earthy quality. Similar but not exactly the same.

One weighs 1655 gms, the other 1792 gms.

Are these two built by Salvador?

Yes, indeed. You have a good eye.

The two guitars are identical except for one being pegs and the other geared tuners.

Both 660mm scale , they were built within a few months of each other, using adjoining (sister) blanks for the two backs and ribs.

Interestingly, they are slightly different in sound and feel. But I love them both. . .

I also have a 650mm BRZ negra from Salvador.

Here's a pic of all three of them:
