Thank you, Anders; and same goes for you who raised good points in response. quote:
ORIGINAL: Anders Eliasson You forgot one: *Accept the chaos of post modern society (read Auster) and stop worrying to much. There´s always a new way to go. (Easy to say, difficult to do) Actually, that is basically what I seek, only that I can´t overcome myself. Can´t even separate myself from the bad news. Tried maybe 20 years ago first time to not read the news, and just couldn´t for more than a week or so. And even CR did appeal in respect of that I thought the Ticos were open and interested in rational explorations. ( While in ethical response their tradition is already a lovely one.) On first sight my dream however is to tie up some hammock in a green garden with lush green, and birds in the trees, surrounded by either high walls or friendly landscape and with a guitar on the stand at hand. And every now and then friends coming by to sit at long tables in the open with delicious food & drink. >sigh< [:)] quote:
ORIGINAL: Anders Eliasson Finally, and with respect of Costa Rica: Isnt it so that it full of run down hippies with all the "correct" ideals? If I´m right in saying so, could you live in a place like that? During my research before the trip I read already that German expats aren´t eager to see countrymen in CR. At my stay, after two months or so I encountered some open air bar owning Germans that seemed quite how you describe, and I fled their company soon. Think me would rather mingle with Canadians and Americans, meeting only a small number of selected homies. For most however me should be looking for the company of the Ticos. There´s been bad influence on them from Contras, Guatemalians, Columbians etc., but there are unspoiled originals still, presenting such integer and dear mentality. ( I wished someone could greet a cute old lady by the name of Aurelia in San José from me, but we seem to have no CRs on board here.) Also CR has a great diversity of province with plenty of areas far from eventual German squares. I have been inspecting lots that were even far from any neighbour at all. Up on hills after long muddy serpentines, with the jungle in your back and around you, and the ocean in your front view. In mind then already building my place there. - Just to think of where I am now instead, worlds from all that. Robbed of almost all that was mine, and not even left with what you could call a garden. Topped with real estate prices as if it were about Cannes, for desolate residences in ugly and littered areas. Life likes to tease me with nasty kinds of irony. Ruphus
