A Tale of Customer Service... Guess i'm writing this as a general guide for anyone in Australia wishing to buy an AER mobile amp acoustic guitar amp from retail outlets here. Im currently hitting my 8th month waiting for a repair on an AER compact mobile. Great product, no complaints....except... it had, for years, oveheating problems. severe in fact..i thought, just way too hot on the rear panel. an endless ping pong between retailer and distributer with the analysis 'its normal part of the battery recharging'... fair enough, but unusual, i thought. finally it just stopped working....after warrenty more ping pong between retailer and distributer and finally a contact for a repairer. weeks go past months.....waiting for parts... 6 months 7 months later the parts arrived.... amp still not finished.... started losing my general patient nature so contacted AER in germany surprise...12 hours later i get a response 24 hours later they trace my serial number to the USA, sent year 2000 then to Australia i bought it in 2007 here lies the conundrum it was made for 110V, (according to AER) somewhere it was modified (unknown to AER) to 240V hence it running hot melted circuitry mal function I bought this Amp as a compliant unit so i emailed the distributer asking 1]Can i get the work done on the new circuitry guarenteed? i s the problem actually fixed? Answer: 'i dont know'....nothing else just 'i dont know'...no offer to get back to me 2]Where or by whom was the modification performed, (i asked this as this could be the problem...and new circuitry could suffer the same fate ] Answer: none so far now its just back to the ping pong, i have totally given up on the retailer the distributer emailed me today asking 'where did you buy the amp from?' ( this was clear ages ago as im only emailing the one person) and i still havent got my amp back from the repairer i figure he's had the new circuitry for a good two weeks a general aversion for my inquiry i found the amp practical. projected great sound with batteries...48v for my mics..a very light reverb... many gigs were lost i often would sell CD's in street performance when the gigs were thin - Steady money for the kids and I obvious benefits for the 4 classes i play a week i went out and bought an EV powered speaker and small mackie mixer ( great sound btw) some months back to compensate the lack of production but all outdoor self powered performance was lost other than acoustic Anyway who ever reads this it is not an attempt of defamation more the unfolding lack of customer and product service we have here i order solely online these days...but 2007 was a different story a few friends since then have used this site for ordering saved money and have no heating amps http://www.thomann.de/gb/aer.html admiration for the German team however.... figure i'll get the amp back eventually...just feel i need to sell it now [with the thought whoever buys it may experience the same issue....bad karma} and get something else..or another 'cool' one feel free to comment...offer feedback...or a course of action. a vent i know and without prejudice :@]
