An iPhone shot as I took the dog for a walk in the park near my house this afternoon. Just captures the autumn feeling in the air at the moment.

Very nice shot.

It's not quite autumn in Texas yet. Daytime highs in the low 90s F. (32 C), but better than low 100s F (38 C) in July and August.

The good part? It's still warm enough to swim laps in the pool.

Why don't my iPhone pics ever look like that?

1. Loads of light - the small sensor needs it for fast shutter speeds and a smaller aperture, which makes the image crisp and a lot sharper.
2. A strong subject that draws in the eye. Note the zig-zag wisps of cloud connecting the balloon to the distance.
3. 'Rule of thirds' composition (nothing is in the middle of the frame, horizontally or vertically)

I should probably crop some more from the right edge, to be honest.

That's about it [:D]

Iphones are pretty good , considering its a phone and not a camera .. the quality is good enough for computer snapshots and all kinds of things ..

I wouldnt say it s specificaly autumn shot though , I see the leaves havent yet turned in England and the grass looks clean , could even be an early summer shot ..

Anyway not wishing to detract from your photo I see a lot of shots and stuff in and around Bath with air balloons in , why is this ?,

Bristol is a major centre of ballooning and it's good for tourist revenue.

Gosh, your picture from Bath reminds me of the Thomas The Tank Engine books I used to read my son and the videos. So, it really is like that.

keith -> RE: My photo of the week 60 - Autumn at home (Oct. 6 2013 21:26:43)

only time I ever made it to the balloon fiesta was after i'd been up all night, which probably made it even more surreal.... people sitting on blankets with wicker picnic hampers opening bottles of champagne and giant four packs of fosters and pints of Guinness (ie. the freakin balloons) taking off of the grass.... at 6 am in the morning![:D]

My photos seem to come out that way, like this one from Wales [:D]
