I got a chance to see Taller last night at the Old Town School of Folk in Chicago. It was great performance with a lot of energy and an enthusiastic audience. I'll try to write more later, but I did find an article in the Chicago Tribune that I want to post -

Simon, I have a few pics - can I post them somewhere?

You can embed a picture in a post - post a couple.

Thanks Scott,

It was an incredible night wasn't it ? Good to see you there and also to meet your teacher Eric in Dekalb the night before. We had a fantastic after show party with him. Make sure he tells you all about it. The Old School was a great venue for the Taller, so many afficionadas, and when the audience rose to its feet during Andrés dancing Solea Por Bulerías, I shall never forget his face.

We filmed the show and caught on camera were two Spanish people saying " This has changed my concept of flamenco" . The footage isn't that good as the camera was so far away with Harold at the mixing desk but still it is a good memory for us and we learnt quickly to get the camera as close up as possible over the next few weeks.

The following night at the CHicago Cultural Centre was just as exciting. When Carmen came out front and sang without her mic she took everyone's breath away.

All in all it was a great trip :)

Eric said that he had a blast as well, especially trying to accompany Carmen por siguriyas, something we don't get to do much here in the U.S.

I have more pictures, but I don't think they came out well - they are pretty blury. I will download them tonight and e-mail them to you if they are worth it.

Glad to hear it went so well, Kate. When you going to tell us all about it?

Ron.M -> RE: Taller de Compás in Chicago (Oct. 1 2003 20:25:38)

Yeah Kate,
It must be very exciting for you all out there!
I was hoping for a blow by blow account, but I guess things are pretty busy!
What do the kids think of the USA?
How's the food? Are you all eating properly?
Give us some anecdotes when you can find the time.

Buena Suerte!

Ron
