Got myself one of these 2 weeks ago.
Will only use it in summer and fall as the rest of the time I am wearing a long sleeve shirt or vest.

I'm 6'2" so I have to rest my forearm on the guitar.
I got the one with the padding. It is very thin but it works. It is made out of stretchy nylon (spandex?). It might be hot to use in July, will see...but it is thin, like a sports shirt.
It serves its purpose well, which is to prevent the guitar from cutting in my arm. I only wear it on my forearm, does not go around my elbow like on their picture.

For the non-padded one, you could achieve the same result by wearing a shirt or cutting part of a tight sleeve of a sweater, or even a sock.... all you need is a tube around your arm. But this is simpler, tapered and not too expensive.
I'm happy with it and use all the time now when I practice.

I have one of these but haven't tried it yet as I received for free. I don't have any issues with forearm discomfort or rubbing into the guitar finish. I am going to wait until the winter to see if it helps keep my forearm/fingers more warmed up for playing than without as I could see it helping that way in regards to practice.

Do you rest your forearms bare skin on french polish?
( Really curious as I havn´t dared doing such yet.)

Yes when I'm kind of just sitting with my guitar, not necessarily when playing. Never an issue for me but I don't have acid hands/skin like some.

I am not acidy either, yet assuming that in the summer heat sweats water contents alone could dissolve shellack finish.

Good freakin' grief people. Really?

If you're all that worried about keeping your guitar all nice and shiny, a cotton sock with the foot section cut off will work just as well, and most likely better, than this silly-ass thing since it offers more cushioning for comfort, is more absorbent and it can breathe making it cooler than a stretchy tube of nylon on a hot summer day.
Plus it's a whole helluva lot cheaper.
But you should definitely buy one of these Oasis things if "celebrity" endorsements are important to you. Better yet, you could also just waste... er, I mean invest... your hard-earned dinero in some ridiculously overpriced designer socks to cut up if you think it would make you feel and/or play any better. Make sure that any logos are clearly visible when you're playing for maximum effect. [8|]

a condom for the arm--excellent! maybe a ribbed arm condom for extra guitar playing sensations?

i have found baby powder during hot and humid periods works quite well on the arm and hands.

Amen to that ... in what Gitano neighborhood will you ever see any tocaor do something this ridiculous ... French Polish is not "that" vulnerable ... lol

estebanana -> RE: Oasis guitar sleeve (Sep. 18 2013 4:00:02)

I am wearing adult diapers right now.

probably the one where the inhabitants are:-

but even so, what's wrong with a shirt?

Ruphus -> RE: Oasis guitar sleeve (Sep. 19 2013 14:11:07)

A simple pointer to the sock sleeve ( as indeed more breathable) could have done too. No?

And what the vulnerability is concerned: Have you never seen guitars with the finish eaten away where the arm rests? I suspect a couple weeks of sleeveless summer sessions could yield such.

And finally everyone has his own way of looking at how to maintain guitars or not. Some treat them like sh!t as you can see with one of my older guitars that has been literally beaten up by who I would deem as ignorant morons, some will try to keep them intact ( without necessarily killing themselves ).

To me fine guitars are not just tools, but inspired pieces of art work that may be preserved for generations of musicians.

Ahhh guys, don't you think I did not know what kind of comments I would get from this review when I posted it?
Yet that is what it is a review, that will serve anyone looking into this thing.

As I said I am happy with it, it works well.
And no, I could not use a sock or the cut off sleeve of one of my sport shirts, which costs a lot more than that anyways. The reason being, as I said, is that I got the padded version, and also that is looks a lot better, is tapered, does not look like crap, and I can honestly afford it.

The reason for me getting this was not to protect the guitar but to protect my arm. I just got a new guitar and I guess it is from being brand new it was really cutting my arm, I practice a lot on weekends. So this little thing solved the problem perfectly. And bonus if it protects the finish! I had not thought of that. One of my other guitar's finish is clearly darker in that area, so that won't happen with this one.

You probably rember sh!tstorms like those about armrests. [:D]
Folks like to think of used standards as perfect / respectively to behead messengers. - The latter being an old tradition since ancient times. hehehe ;O)
