Luis Feu De Mesquita 2007 “Reyes” blanca 655/54 (it doesn't feel any different than a 53mm nut width to me due to how the strings are spaced, very comfortable) 60mm E to E saddle spacing Old spanish cypress, european spruce top Schaller hauser ebony tuners 12 hole tie block Action low to high around 2.8 – 2.7 with plenty of saddle to go lower if you so choose. French polish OHSC and COA This guitar is based off the Blackshear Reyes bracing/plantilla with personal modifications made by Luis who was sure to get a true flamenco action and avoid the high bridge and 12th fret action that the original plan calls for. This guitar has a great flamenco setup that is very easy to play with a low string height at the bridge and 12th. Other changes include a dovetail neck joint, ever so slightly deeper body than most blancas I've seen, and slightly thicker back and sides to force more projection and sound through the top and provide rigidity. This is a richer sounding blanca that almost has some negra-esque qualities but it's still very much a blanca. It has a somewhat bigger, fuller tone like a negra and has a deep percussive quality but still has the separation, brightness, fast dryer tone of a blanca. It can be growly when pushed or sweet when played with feel. Good volume and response, balanced tone, very nice worksmanship on this guitar and I can only find a couple of golpe misses. This guitar makes a great solo blanca. It’s been well cared for in a 45-50% humidity environment and kept in its case when not in use.
