flyhere -> Spanish (flamenco?) folding hand fan - where to buy (Sep. 3 2013 22:43:13)

Hi All,

My wife wants to get a folding hand fan, and I spent the last 3 days online without success, hoping someone can offer an idea.

I see a these fans with flowers motif, and laces at the end. I think they're Spanish style, so I Googled "Spanish hand fan", "Spanish folding fan", etc;

I want a larger fan, at least 12 inches (30cm) in length when folded. There are hundreds of made-in-China ones on Amazon and ebay, all look like they are made by the same factory, they're all small in size, 9 inches (22cm), all with the same black plastic ribs;

I found a few larger fans for performance, and probably Flamenco dancing, they are all plain solid color, for you to decorate yourself;

One or two websites in the UK have a few larger fans, with postage they come out to may be $40. Then I found a few "vintage" ones that go for around $60 a piece.

I just want on inexpensive fan ($10-$15 may be) for everyday use. All ideas are appreciated.

PS. Sorry, how do I move this to Off-Topic?

Try searching for "abanicos"...

Try "Flamenco Connection's" website. Guillermo Juan Christie owns and operates both "Flamenco Connection" and "Guitar Gallery," located in Washington, DC. He has all sorts of flamenco (and Spanish) paraphernalia, from guitars to dresses and shoes. He would be a good bet to have fans as well.

Cheers,

Bill
