Looks quite unusual... it's called the Thurman multi-dimensional sound port. I wonder what the tonal benefits are!

Here's some more details, with pictures!

As I am right handed, I freaked a bit about halfway after he started to sand - but it's a lefthander. Ok interesting, but I'm going to do a more trad type on the current offering for now.[8|]

I also thought that it was a lefty, but it's not... just look at the picture of a finished steel stringed guitar at the end of the video, you'll see that that guitar is a right-handed guitar (or at least the strings are for a right handed player), with the port on the lower booth of the guitar. The sound port is on the lower booth to release some of the sound that's imprisoned it seems, or at least that's what the link to the webpage above suggests, not just to act as a "personal PA system" in this case.

This is very strange to me. Has anyone here tried this sound port system?!

If you look at the related videos, there's one of Brune Sr. showing and playing one of these ported guitars. He plays a bit por granainas near the end.

It seems that the port doubles as a cutaway.

That combination of woods with that building technique and Brune as the luthier that guitar has to be a fortune! I'd give my pinky toes to play it though.......
