Buy a real book !!!!!! Transpose everything into C. Note patterns.

More fun, record yourself playing a tune(that is a melody, single notes you could sing) in C. Harmonise it on the fly if possible using only three chords (I IV V) . Transpose it to G,D, A E F Bb Eb. Repeat playing along harmonising it on the fly.

Would you want software to analyse a novel for you ?

Would you want a computer to eat your dinner ?

Not trying to be clever, just telling you how it is, how your question sounds to a musician, step away from the cul de sac.

Are you asking for something to show you the notes, or just something that allows you to slow the audio down?

OK I've just looked at a transcription by Akira Seta ISBN 4-87471-325-4

Three was a big rumbling thread about the correct rhythm of Fandangos which didn't really seem to be constructive but here goes.

First phrase is in E phrygian,E7 alternating with F7 (Eb is a blue note in the mode). Harmonic rhythm is 3/2 and that is the key to understanding the phrasing IMHO. The phrase is really simple to understand in it's 'home' time signature.(note the first chord although typically written as the second beat of 3/4 is actually the downbeat in 3/2) To make it feel like fandangos and to be able to play with dancers and percussion you need to then be able to play it as a polyrhythmic phrase over 3/4 tapping your foot where the notation claims the downbeat is.

Work on the first two phrases really slow for ever and ever and it will start to be clear. The way fandangos is written is not helpful and probably the best thing to do (and what I did when I was having a go at fandangos) is to listen to a recording at half speed over and over until you can sing (or hum or click your tongue) with the guitar part. That will give you the gestalt. Next start the analysis with this question 'Where are the downbeats'.

Through the whole piece it seems to be mostly question and answer phrases 2/2 plus 1/2 ie (comparing to written score) four beats starting on the second beat of each odd numbered written bar which contain the question and the next two beats with the answer.

Fandangos seems to be a whole family of compas like buleria and rules for blending them seem to vary from one solo piece to the next.

Okay, let me be specific. Are there any software programs out there through which I can play the song and slow down the tempo without altering the notes themselves (if you follow me)?

No, I don't need a computer to eat for me.

This is just a simple question to see if what I'm thinking of exists yet and if I can have it answer a perplexing question for me.

I sounds like he does pull-offs and hammer-ons durring the Am portion of the compas and I was wondering if technology could either prove or dicredit this for me.

The book I am using is Paco de Lucia Guitar-Tab by Nueva Carish. The pieces were transcribed by M. Livio Gianola. I use almost the entire tab as written except I converted the intro to first position.

Wow, that's really not what it seemed you were asking.

Hmm, good advice. Who knew that Windows Media Player could do it and therefore has some actual use after all.

Of course, if I used the search option, I'd just over complicate it and get all kinds of unrelated stuff. I guess the K.I.S.S. method still reigns supreme...

It's that "unrelated stuff" that makes this foro so useful! Serendipity is a powerful learning tool; make a naive search and you end up finding out all sorts of things you didn't know before. Maybe you don't even find what you were looking for, but you will certainly learn something in the process.

So, after realising my error I got out my old turntable and tried to get to the bottom of the matter. As always when seeking your approval I played Punta Umbria backwards. Just before deck burst into flames I heard an ominous voice, presumably yours, say quite clearly

'Hey GB how do you use windows media player, should I right click centre screen whilst the file is playing to get EQ, Playspeed and whatnot ?'

Well Dark Lord ......yes.

Lets hope that will head off any unnessecary interdeity conflict.[:)]

Transcribe by Seventh String will slow down videos as well as audio. It also has lots of other tools to help you transcribe.
Amazing Slow Downer by roni music will slow down audio and in my opinion has better slowed sound quality than Transcribe but I don't think it does video.

ftwdk, you can now slow down You Tube videos to half and quarter
speed. The setting is coupled with the resolution setting.
Click on the "gear" icon at the bottom right of the video box.

It works but sometimes the sound is a bit distorted, especially at 0.25x.
