I am a 22 year old male university student living in New Zealand. I have been playing guitar for 8 years and have decided that I want to get into Flamenco. I have Gerhard Graf-Martinez Flamenco Volume 1 but would like to hear general advice from forum members. Also, tell me a bit about your favourite brands for Flamenco guitars, strings etc, etc.

Welcome to the foro and greetings from Holland. You can find a lot of discussions about lesson material, guitars and strings in previous posts (if you press home you can find access to them).

As Erik mentioned, you can learn a lot by searching the archives of past discussions.

Here's some advice: when I started learning flamenco, I payed too much attention to right hand technique and too little attention to playing in compas in the various palos. In flamenco, not playing in compas is a deal-breaker, regardless of how good your right hand technique might be.
