I'm curious if anyone has had a chance to compare Marlon's guitars to Francisco. I borrowed a 2006 Francisco study guitar a few years ago that felt extremely comfortable (especially the neck profile). I'm wondering if Marlon is making his guitars to feel the same.

I'm also wondering how his guitars hold up in quality and sound to his father's guitars. Does anyone know when he officially started building?

Marlon is a fine luthier in his own right. He might easily in time equal his father – there have been such cases, notably Manuel Reyes Hijo, doubly so in his case, considering who he had to live up to.

But Marlon’s not there yet – Poncho’s guitars are definitely better. Of course they cost a lot more too. I’m not sure, but I think Marlon has been building for about fifteen years, though it was only recently that he began signing his labels.

Right now, in his price range, I think Marlon’s guitars are the best buy anyone could possibly find. He’s currently making a Conde copy, right down to the headstock.

How do you think Marlon's guitars compare to the Navarro study guitars from a few years ago? What's your impression of the Conde Copy? I've been told the construction is pretty much the same as older student models except it uses a Conde bracing pattern instead of a Santos pattern (and you can also get a Conde headstock). If Marlon has been building for about 15 years, does that mean he has been making the study guitars since the early 2000s?

Someone here bought the Navarro Conde, and wasn't hugely impressed. It's the one which lurks on ebay, and from the reports it's a Navarro Student Flamenco (a good guitar nonetheless) but with a different headstock.

Here is a thread that deals with it.

I'm sure Marlon's guitars are great, but if I bought one I'd buy one from a good dealer eg Ron Hudson, La Falseta, Ramon. I imagine even though his name is 'new' I imagine he's been building guitars for his dad, eg the student models for a long time.
