lets be honest here, how many of you actually played these guitars??
here is a test, playing my version of calle elvira granaina composed by richard on foro.
my opinion: very good sounding deep guitar, loud and dark, but uncomfortable for both hands. only if they were comfortable , i would consider buying them in the future. i am testing one of the best models of andalusian guitars

The guy who brought them into the world was dishonest about where they came from, who made them and he attacked guitar makers and players websites and youtube channels with angry spam when he was outed for being dishonest. The guitars have less than beautiful headstocks ripped off from a 19th century French guitar makers style, and then called Andalusian, the headstock design is French not Spanish. The producer fraudulently sold these guitars to dealers claiming they where made in Spain and they were not. And the rosettes are ostentatious.

Other than that, yeah it's an Okay sounding guitar. Why should that fly when there are people in the business who don't misrepresent how and where they build and get historical style correct?

Just saying.

There's a few in Australia
I've played a couple
Other than being given a spiel that arcangel made the tops etc etc
And pretty much the the same feeling as above comments by Stephen
I truly felt the guitars are ok.. Just ok
Very hard to shape dynamics in more libre palos .. Get nuance and weighty notes
Everything kind of sounded harsh and loud regardless of touch
Still maybe this an ok thing just not my thing in a guitar..

I think for the money between $5000 to $15,000 au
I would consider something else...not these. A lot of fine guitar in that price range.

Post edit
Knowing your luthier..
I recently bought a 1989 manuel caceres (pizzaro) blanca..
Beautiful responsive guitar with obvious wear for its age
The luthier has a fine reputation., starting with Ramirez and eventually producing arcangel fernandez guitars under his authorship
Anyway found him in face book and wrote an email
He responded quickly and told me diego losada bought that guitar from him ( that made feel good, figure he knows how to pick a guitar )
Also ensured me he would love to do any work needed on that instrument ( could use a new fretboard )

I guess Kudo if you like the guitar well that's enough..
I imagine you are in Spain right now?
Some great guitars coming from the Pena Vargas workshop in Jerez .. In the scheme of things not expensive..keep shopping

andalusian guitar no valen nada

tele -> RE: lets test this famous guitar (Jun. 12 2013 11:44:09)

They look horrible and cost alot more than they are worth. I would not pay even 200 euros for one.

brandoscostumes -> RE: lets test this famous guitar (Jun. 12 2013 12:07:44)

i did a class with diaz not long ago and he offered me a similar one that has a repaired crack for 500 euros. i gave him half and tried it for a few weeks and it really is not comfortable to play. theres a lot of excess fretboard above the 6th and below the 1st strings and the strings themselves are not equally distanced apart. it obviously seems to sound good because your head is right above the doble boca. anyway i asked if i could return it and he refused so i just have to hope the difficulty of playing barre chords will strengthen my left hand.

orsonw -> RE: lets test this famous guitar (Jun. 12 2013 12:19:57)

I have spent a few hours playing a top end Andalusian negra. I thought the set up was good, I found it easy to play.

The Andalusian scale was 655mm, action was 2.7mm at 12th fret, height at saddle about 8mm. 60mm spacing at saddle. 52mm neck width at nut but very narrow string spacing; 40mm but that could be changed.

I'm not sure if the sound port gave me a biased impression as it's the only time I've tried one on a guitar.

Overall the price was too much and I know it would be very hard to resell it, so I passed.

Anyhow good to see Farru and Farruquito play regardless of guitar maker.

this guy didnt make them, he didnt bring them to the world, he is just a seller who didnt know how to act properly and thats his problem, not the guitars problem ! he is not the only seller of these guitars in spain..its just that the other sellers are not online doing the stuff that he did.. SO QUIT ASSOCIATING RUBEN with the guitars !

I have seen these guitars in the hands of great flamencos in person, and they love them, the list includes Antonio Rey, who I personally talked to about the guitar and he even recorded some of the tracks in his latest CD Camino del Alma USING THAT GUITAR!

all im saying is that, open up your mind for one damn second..

kudo -> RE: lets test this famous guitar (Jun. 13 2013 14:33:00)

who cares about the origin of the guitars and the maker and blah blah blah... what matters at the end is how it feels and how it sounds... be practical

r u a seller[8|]

Besides, only famous thing about "andalucian" guitars is their ugly looks and the controversy they have caused. And that antonio rey got paid to play them(or maybe he just swapped a reyes for one[&:])

Judging by the reaction these guitars bring, quite a few. Which also tells you people prefer to deal with ethical and upstanding builders/sellers.

But I can't help but noticing too much sustain on the guitar.
I agree.. at times its favorable and at times its not, and it also have to do with tastes and being able to play the guitar well enough. in the right hands , it can sound the best it can...

yes, they can be overpriced, i agree on that.. but the thing is most people here look at these guitars as crap just because of that man and have their mind closed about the guitar itself. all im saying, open your mind for a second, they are not bad guitars !! they are good !

How can a factory make guitars with such a varying quality then if they are so good guitars? If guitar that costs 250 euros has to be returned the quality has to be pretty crappy.

whether they are factory or handmade, i dont care, as long as they sound good and can be a pleasure to play at the end

johnnefastis -> RE: lets test this famous guitar (Jun. 13 2013 20:31:28)

Do you know which track he plays it on.
I am intrigued to listen to that sustain now.
Cheers

kudo -> RE: lets test this famous guitar (Jun. 13 2013 20:50:58)

he used Andalusian guitars for "Maestro Lucia" and "La Raiz de lo Puro"

as for the rest, he didnt even use a conde ! he used Vicente Carrillo guitars for primary and Andrew Smith guitar as secondary guitar

ToddK -> RE: lets test this famous guitar (Jun. 13 2013 21:27:54)

The guitar sounded great when i heard Antonio Rey play it.

And even Ruben Diaz makes it sound pretty damn good.

Kudo, you just sound like a mess. LOL

Sorry, i was hard on you in that other thread, but man, you keep
setting yourself up for it. :)
