Just to be polite: Not a flamenco guitarist but a long-time player who has finally acquired a very modest Mexican flamenco guitar, the care and feeding of which I need to learn about. (The peg-dope thread has already proved useful.)
I've been listening to the music for quite a while (a classmate in the mid-1960s was a very serious and competent player at 19--he taught me one scale and one fragment of a falseta). The next year a few of us discovered Manitas de Plata (who I later was informed was not the hotshot player we thought he was in '65), and I've dipped into the tradition every now and then since. I've always understood that I'll never have the chops to play the music, but I do love the sound of the instrument.
