A friend of mine bought a guitar from him several years ago, but I don't have any details. I'm in San Diego and pass through Tijuana occasionally. I could call his shop if you have any specific questions. -jim

Luis Sevillano I hands down the best Luthier I know for acoustic guitar. I live in L.A. but make the trek anytime I need work done. I happened upon his tiny shop about 15 years ago looking for a good Spanish guitar as my Candelas guitar as well as my Cuban Tres and Laud (Which I had made in Havana) had all been stolen in a burglary:(. I picked up a Spanish guitar that was on display. It was a simple no frills guitar but it sparkled and almost played itself!. I played it for about 40 minutes before paying the $400 dollars for it and leaving a happy man. I have paid 4 times as much for a lesser sounding instrument. Since then I've had a requinto, Cuban Tres and (African Rosewood, and ebony made there. All of his work is beautiful and done with detailed attention as well as meticulously intonated. I can't say enough. He's the only one I go to now. Ozzie

Google says:

Taller de Guitarras Sevillano
Dirección: Boulevard Cuauhtemoc Sur 3415, Madero Sur, 22150 Tijuana, Baja California, México
Teléfono:+52 664 686 5057

You can map it in Google. It's on the old Hwy 1 heading south (the free road, not the new toll road) to Rosarito. They have a Facebook page. I suggest calling in advance.

I know the route! Thanks Jimand! I may be down in SD in the next few months, if I make it down I'll report back.
