Welcome to the foro. I played guitar for 15 years (including lots of flamenco) before i became a (full time) student of Paco Peña's university course. I had to forget everything i learned and basically had to start from scratch with both the music and both hands. It took me a couple of years to acquire a workable technique again, in which i had to deal with pretty reluctant fingers as well... but it was worth the effort.
The later in life you start using your fingers for refined guitar playing, the moire difficult it becomes to make them do what you want. You have to learn to live with your (partly temporary) limitations and must try to make the best of it. Best is to start simple and build it up step by step.
