pink -> whats the problem? (Mar. 21 2013 22:51:47)

I've got an electric/blues gig tomorrow night,first for about 14 months and I am really looking forward to it.....old band, band leader moved to USA a few years back and is back in UK to visit family and friends so a reunion gig has been arranged . Long journey for me to get there....other side of the country and the weather looks like its going to be a turd!! Oh well!!
Now the problem is this......why do I feel like I'm missing out? Like I said,I really am looking forward to this but the overriding feeling I have is that I'm going to miss out on an evening of practice on my wonderful blanca? Why is this happening , i really don't get it....old friends and the chance to play my guitar for a couple of hours with some really good players and its not enough. Whats happening to me?

You got the Flamenco sickness... we all got it... there is no cure... I'm sorry...

Take your blanca to your blues gig and play a Blueslería like the Amador brothers used to do![;)]

You could change the band name to Pata Negra de su Majestad! Haha[:D]

Your old self is jealous of your new self, which, by definition must be in a better place. Respect and accept both your realities, and appreciate that that you have a passion for something, which makes living worthwhile.

Shroomy is right. I now balance my time between listening to flamenco and jazz - (addictions need to be balanced :-), and space is continuously created in my mind to appreciate the other one) , since for me, Flamenco warms the heart, and Jazz expands the mind.

I satisfied this problem by playing in rumba bands. I get the flamenco blanca "scratch the itch" thing covered, plus the feeling of playing loud and intense like a Rock band.

Ricardo,
may I ask if you're still using the Cordoba, or a "real" guitar for your rumba gigs? I still use the Cordoba, but a mic'ed guitar would sound so much better for the strumming.

Sounds like love!

My cordoba kicks butt. I am LEAD guitar. [:D] the rhythm guys use full bodied flamenco guitars with internal mics blend piezo. In some venues we play so freaking loud I make them turn the mics off cuz they feedback. My golpeador does need changing though.

Oh, EXCUSE ME, Mr. Baliardo! :) I'd love to see your rumba act, I bet it's a lot of fun. Those rumba strums with all the thwacking and spacking sound so good.
