I keep whacking my wedding ring on the underside of the neck of the guitar and have to remember to take it off when recording.

Ditto what Ricardo said....

I always have my wedding ring on and it makes no difference to me - it bothered me the first couple of months but after that I got so used to it I don't even notice it anymore.

Sabicas always wore this big diamond ring:

It was big enough to produce a visible reflection if a spotlight was on him. He would flash it at good looking women in the audience. I caught the flash a time or two sitting next to my blonde fiancee on the front row of a concert in San Antonio.

So if you've got $20K for a sparkler, I say "Go for it."

I believe my father only wear his marriage ring on the day he married...he had seen/heard of just to many ring related finger injuries (like rings getting entangled with immovable objects .... if in that clinch the weakest spot happens to be your finger well).

On top i don't understand how people can play with rings at all, especially big, bad fitting rings like this :-)

I wouldn't say it's the ring that gets in your way of playing. It's usually the spouse. I try to practice whenever my wife is out and about otherwise I get interrupted for no good reason. I think my wife feels that if I am playing guitar I am just slacking off and doing nothing.

Congrats Kudo, that's great man! What's your area of engineering?

Didn't know of the existence of such a tradition, I just checked it out on Wikipedia. It's not that bad, you can take it off before playing. I bet that some married guys can't say the same...

Erik van Goch -> RE: playing with a ring on finger? (Mar. 9 2013 21:59:15)
