rickm -> fast strum pattern (Feb. 26 2013 19:09:22)

since i cant use my index finger. Im looking for a fast strum w/o the index. In a previous post I learned one can do a thumb up and a m down seperately and then cycle it. I think a marote ras is just that, thumb up and am down. I have also practiced a thumb up and middle down. Does each one have a specific purpose or are they all available for a simple fast strum pattern? which one is more advantageous or doesnt it matter/

What you learned in the last post was thumb up, MA down, thumb down It's 3 movements so it really only works well for triplet applications. If you do just thumb up and ma down you've got something that would work for things divisible by two, IE eighth notes, sixteenth notes etc...I saw a guy in Spain who could do this blazing fast but the likelihood of us mortals getting it that fast is unlikely. Check this thread out, I've linked to Ricardo's post were he lists different Abanicos like this.
