Help! D-string is "buzzing"? (Full Version)

im so desparate dont know what it is called in english, the tone of the d-string is covered by a louder noise, which is very annoying!
its this kind of noise, which occurs as if the string hits a metallic object in a slight way... (buzz/snare?)

i think everyone had that already, me too. BUT this time i cant find out the reason. its neither the nut/head plate, nor the bridge!, ive muted those parts while hitting the string. in 99% it was/is the bridge but this time its different.
i really fear that it could be the wood! that would be sooo bad [:(]

Hi Phrygus,
Are you sure the string hasn't got a barely visible broken winding.
I once did trace a buzz to a hairline crack in a strut..I was quite alarmed but it fixed easily with a spot of glue.

Play D on another string to see if it excites the same noise. If so, take the guitar to a competent repairman. If not, change the D string. Make sure the bridge bone is in good condition.

ah ok, there is a broken winding i guess. i can see the nylon part of the string. you mean this can cause such a buzzy effect?

due to the fact that i dont have a second d string, i turned the string upside down. the buzzing has reduced clearly, but on hard strokes its still there. ill get a new d-string tomorrow or so, but thats not so important.
it really seems that the problem is only caused by the string !phew! for a moment i thought id have to buy a new guitar...[:D]

hopefully the buzzing will be away when i put a new string on... ps: it was not only the note D, but rather all notes on the D-string...

HEHE Damn Phrygus what do you do with those D's lol

what strings u use ? i love those D'Addario Pro Arte, Classical guitar normal tension, somehow i have never liked any of the flamenco strings anyone has ever brought out.
think i tried Savares and Hanabach flamenco strings, thats all you can get here

how about those Manitas de plata flamenco strings edition ?[:D]

ps. u can also get buzzingif if at the bridge theres exces part of the string just sitting lose on the guitar , and it vibrates on the guitar everytime you plug the string.

Some strings do not last too long and bass strings start unwinding at a point where it makes contect with a fret. And again, sometimes a fret can cause a string to have a minor break on the outer winding.

Check for a rough spot on your guitar frets that could cause the fourth string to unwind.

I have found that La Bella strings do not last too long and on all my guitars the fourth string at the second fret comes apart slowly but surely! La Bella is not the only brand that has this problem.

My D'Addario strings (all tensions) hold up well and are consistant in all respects. I have never had a D'Addario unwind!

Here's an interesting string story for ya.
During a poolside party when I was bravely attempting a Clapton solo on a flamenco guitar (forgive me the blasphemy I was young and stupid [:(]), I actually managed, while on a downstroke, to snap all three treble strings. All at once.

And the strings? Savarez. Coated. 2 days old.
