I had a very nice, older Rainmundo's Indian rosewood back replaced (it had been damaged badly), and we could not remove the original builder's label.

I wrote to Victor Raimundo, who was kind enough to replace the 1983 style label for me, complete with dates and signature....Now, what do I use to put it back in? When the guitar was finished, I forgot to bring it with me and I want to get this done, as I will be having to sell it.

Type of glue? Tips or tricks?

I use double-sided tape or whatever it is called.

How could a label in a guitar get damaged bady without damaging the guitar, too? Did you spill some coffe in the guitar?

The back of the guitar had been damaged prior to my purchse, with a poor repair job. Also, the guitar was finished with a light gold/orange laquer (Indian back and sides with a cedar top - very pretty), and whomever did the repairs simply did a clear laq'. It WAS the back, but it was a pretty damn nice peghead, so I had repairs done.

When the back was cut out, we tried "every trick in the book"; heat, steam, and finally soaking, but after 22 years, it was one with the wood.

It came out amazing, and several players have tried it and are quite impressed, so it was worth it, but I just didn't want to us a glue that 'bled through', etc...

To my knowledge, guitarbuilders use woodglue to put the label on.

Just use PVA glue (White wood glue) It doesn´t crumble the paper.

Don't use glue with lots of water like original Titebond ore hot hide glue

I used a very fine, thin layer of Titebond Professional wood glue, and it worked perfect. My neighbor also asked Pepe Romero, Jr, as he is a builder, and he said "just a good wood glue, spread thin".
