Jason McGuire is in the SF area, I don't know if he takes on just anyone but he'd be an unbelievable teacher.

Grisha -> RE: seeking teacher in San Francisco area / busco Maestro en San Francisco (Jan. 28 2013 21:03:03)

Jason is THE MAN! I also teach close to San Francisco, in San Jose to be precise. But lately I am mostly away performing.

Your in a great place geographically. Both Grisha and Jason are absolute monsters, if you get lessons from either one you'll be the envy of many on the foro.

Jason IS great, but I don't think he teaches anymore.

There are plenty of other good guitarists here, at different price levels (some more worth it than others IMO). What's your skill level?

I'm beginner/intermediate. I am self taught and need someone who will pay meticulous attention to my form. I think I may be developing bad habits.

Grisha-- I had a lesson with you once in San Jose, but you are a busy man! I look forward to seeing your next show in SF, whenever that may be.

There are several other guitar players you can study with in SF area.

Depending on what you're interested in. I would advise trying a few of the teachers and picking one to stay with for a while.

I could recommend a few to you who would be able to help with technique and material to play. And you already know Grisha. Are you here now or will you be arriving soon? If you are here we could talk on the on the phone and I could give you some names and phone numbers.

Your lucky. David G, Kenny, Roby, Jason(monster), Jorge, Rick, of course Grisha, they all have a lot to offer. And then there are the visiting guys who do workshops-your in for treat to say the least. Don't be so particular.

Any of the above can take you a long long way if your new to the game.

Stephan is right-move around a bit after you've studied with one guy for awhile-maybe a year or so. Go to some gigs at the smaller clubs, see who's playing you like and ask them if they teach. If they are good enough to be playing out for singers and dancers, they have a lot they can show you.

Hi guys, I wanted to bump this thread.

Stefan, I tried your # but haven't been able to reach you.

Can anyone else recommend a teacher and have contact info?

Many thanks... muchas gracias

Hi I apologize. There is a back room in my shop and I have been working there lately, I don't get phone reception there.

Can you text me your number when you get this? I'll call you today.
