hello everyone,

i just found this forum, exactly what i was looking for and with scottish members to boot!

anyway, i've been studying flamenco guitar for the last year using an admira espana and have been feeling the need to upgrade.

the problem i'm having is that i can't find any scottish guitar shops that stock flamenco guitars in the £750 - £1000 price range.

i like the look of the cashimira 105 but i like to try out my guitars before laying out so much cash.

anyway, my question is twofold :

1. does anyone know of any scottish shops selling guitars in my price range?

2. any comments on the cashimira 105?

Can't help you with the Cashimira, though that was a model I was looking at a while back.

Just a quick point about the whole guitar buying thing - two words - 'quality control'. From my experience shopping around for flamenco factory guitars in the UK you simply cannot say that because one model is great that another guitar, same model, will be anywhere near as good. In fact I was very surprised how much they differred. If you are buying a factory guitar, you just have to go to the shop and try every single thing in your price range and buy the one that sings and plays the best.

IMO this is purely down to the size of the market (very small). If you were shopping for a classical guitar I'd say the story is completely different - much more consistency and better quality, even at the budget end of the market.

Now the good news - you are bordering on the price range of a handmade guitar. Check out Anders who hangs out here and makes a living building guitars for people on this forum [:D].

thanks jon,

i've dropped anders a line, his guitars look beautiful and his audio clips sound great.

i'm strongly tempted to go this route now, the old punk in me always wants to support the diyers!

i guess i have to ask a third question now (and this is meant in no part to cast aspersions on anders' work or character) - anyone care to share their experiences with anders' work?

Welcome man of the north. Very refreshing to here that you do not want to rush off to spain and buy there[:D]

I think the resident regular posting scottish clan must now outnumber the English hoards. Whatever next [:o]

As for Anders. My Ander's blanca will be finished soon so as for product I can only point you at the references here. But what I can say is that the experience of having the guitar made is very special and very personal. Adds a whole new dimension. I just can't wait to get my hands on her [:D]

Welcome! Anders has sold about five through this forum alone. I have been to his workshop and tried a few. They sound so good that I have also ordered one from him.

thanks for the offer jim but anders' waiting list is too long for my impatient self to wait and playing one of his guitars may be too much to take!

i'll definitely be getting back in touch with him when i can afford to wait.

anyway looks like i'll be taking a trip down to england to tryout some different factory models
