After more than 50 years in the guitar world, Felix Manzanero has decided to retire. Just letting anyone know that has not heard.

I've always wanted to try His guitars but didn't managed so far...
He even taught some luthiers in Paracho if I'm well informed..

You are correct beno. I really like his work. A great instrument.

Felix celebrated his 75th birthday this year. He's entitled to retirement!

I've visited him at his Madrid shop and enjoyed drinks and tapas with him on several occasions. He was always very friendly and most generous with his time and knowledge. A true gentleman.
Best wishes, Felix.

I have a 1970 blanca cedar by Felix; it is in near mint condition and is a wonderful instrument, percussive, and yet smooth and sweet. Like many others I visited his shop in 2010 and also found him to be very cordial, personable, and still very enthusiastic about his work; he showed me a blanca that he was just finishing. He will be missed.

I visited Manzanero in June, 1991, along with several others when I was in Madrid to buy a good classical before moving to the central Pacific. I made the rounds more than once, playing for a while at each place. Felix kept one guitar back for me while I was choosing. I ended up buying a Contreras doble tapa from Manuel Sr., another sterling gentleman of the "Madrid School."

When I went by to thank Manzanero, but to say I had bought a Contreras, he said he was happy that I had found the instrument I liked, and invited me out for wine and tapas. What a guy!

Indeed.
Don Manuel was a gentleman of the highest order as was his son Pablo.
