Chilli Fingers -> Flamenco 500 chords,diagrams & progressions by Paul Martinez (Dec. 25 2012 5:09:45)

I felt compelled to write a review on this book. I purchased this mainly for the progressions, so I might find new and interesting variations to add color to rythmic stuff which can become boring if using the same or similar chords all the time. SO I had an agenda before I even got the book which can make one more critical I guess. Anyway long story short, its got NOT MANY progressions at all??? It doesnt even have ANYTHING for alegria. The progressions it does have are fairly standard and I have yet to find one there that I didnt already know.

If your a total beginner it maybe useful. If you have been learning for a while dont bother. Basically its just a chord book, and a very crap one at that. If you want a chord book do yourself a favour and buy a serious one. This one is a joke, its a very thin book. My proper chord book is about 10-15 times thicker than this.

I was hoping for a book that would ween out all the chords you probably wouldnt use in flamenco and focus on interesting progerssions that would instantly increase your repertiore. Unfortunatly it does not do this ): Very dissapointed, imo the book is a peice of crap. Go to ricardos flamenco chords thread and you find much much better stuff. I guess I was just hoping for a go to book that had it all in one place for convinience.

Book claims on cover:

'main chords for traditional flamenco'
'modern flamenco chords, fusion, jazz'
'the best progressions of each flamenco style'

As I mentioned it doesnt even have ALEGRIA! And other palos are missing so the last claim is a blatent lie. Its got very minmal progressions and nothing of any real interest. And to top it off it has no CONTENTS or INDEX.

It sucks.

I agree with Mr. C. Fingers, very disappointing.

The flamenco Guitar guide by David Leiva is really good.

This guide contains all the clues to compose, Falsetas, chords, progressions, scales or to improvise in a quick and easy way. This guide is aimed to beginners and professional guitar players.
