heavymellow -> Carlos Pina Flamenco Blanca - Sold! (Dec. 21 2012 21:04:30)

This is the second Carlos Pina that I have owned - just sold my other yesterday on Ebay The other Pina had fret issues and was posted here on the forum. I am clearing out too many guitars and this one doesn't get played enough.

I currently have the guitar listed on Ebay : http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190774125698

Handmade in Paracho, MX by master luthier Carlos Pina. Paracho is the guitar making capital of North America and some of the finest Classical & Flamenco guitars are coming from there. I have two Flamencos by Carlos, and this one is light as a feather and LOUD!!

Solid Spruce top with Solid Cypress Back & Sides that gives you a typical flamenco punch with raspy attack. The tone was fantastic before, but I treated it to 100+ hours on a ToneRite. If you do not know what a Tone Rite, check it out: http://tonerite.com/

This really opened the instruments tone up and now plays fantastic. Structurally the guitar is in great condition with a bit of playing wear (typical nicks and finish dings) the most being a small gouge on the neck behind the second fret. Probably due to cejilla wear - has always been there. There is some finish marks but nothing that effects the playability or tone.

Here is a short audio clip (excuse the playing...) : https://soundcloud.com/americangipsy/carlo-pina

One thing about Carlos Pina guitars is that he ALWAYS gets his neck angles right for flamenco playing. Both of my Pina guitars have excellent action and playability- this one is superior. The action is low and fast, and there is plenty of room in the saddle to lower if need be.

To get a Carlos Pina Flamenco Blanca new it will run you at least $2500 - save your money and get an instrument that is played in and if you can deal with a few aesthetic flaws you will have a great, solid wood, handmade instrument for far less than anywhere else.

tri7/5 -> RE: Carlos Pina Flamenco Blanca (Dec. 21 2012 22:33:05)

Is this the same one that had the fret issues from a few months back?

heavymellow -> RE: Carlos Pina Flamenco Blanca (Dec. 21 2012 23:27:39)

No - I sold that one on Ebay as is. A luthier purchased it.
This Pina is my second one, and much nicer with no issues other than the aesthetic ones mentioned in the listing.
This is a great guitar - if it does not sell I will probably keep it.
