XXX -> Eq-quest: Adjusting Left/Right-Channel (Oct. 4 2005 21:45:10)

I have here some Tracks with wrong settings, regarding the loudness of the two channels. The left channel is louder, on some tracks the difference is greater, id say 10%-44%.

How can i make left and right channel equal loud ? In cool edit i click on "amplitude/amplify" and can adjust the volumes, but its too imprecise for me! Id like to have the program to calculate how much the difference is and then to adjust it automatically.
Is it "DC bias" ?

Its very annoying, but i know that itll take me long time to adjust it manuallly and i will be more annoyed if it happens again ...

In cool edit go to effects\Amplitude\Pan Expand

play around with those, it will give you the option of adjusting each chanel separate

hm... i fear there is a misunderstanding.
1. i want to change the volume; not the mixing of the channel and also not the "stereo effect" (how much seperated the channels are)
and 2. i do not want to do it manually. the program has to have a routine for it, im pretty sure, this is a basic operation.

the pan expand is a lovely tool for widening the speakers. used it alot to improve my mp3s.
florian if you used this for voluming left and right channel you should switch to the amplify tool. its more detailed since you can operate with digits and decimal places.

The easyest ways, i know to change volume in cool edit is AMplitude/ AMplifie

And Amplitude/Normalize

Thats it. If you just want to quickly even up the volume of both sides of the stereo field, select each channel one at a time then click on 'Normalise'.

BTW, this has nothing to do with EQ.

Yes, exactly! Thats IT! Thx and sorry for my impreciseness; i tend to mix up anything that has to do with "audio editing" with equing...
