kenjo138 -> Trying to identify flamenco strings (Dec. 16 2012 3:04:20)

I purchased a Vicente Carrillo 1A about a year ago and the guitar came with orange treble strings. I love the way they sound, but I finally came around to replacing them. I am now using D. Mari strings since they seemed to work well on my Esteve, but as I feared, they did not work so well on the Carrillo.

I have no way of contacting the prior owner and was wondering if anyone out there is familiar with strings that may fit this description. The sound of the strings are much brighter than the D. Mari's, Savarez or even the La Bella 860's. I am considering putting the old strings back on but would like to find out what these strings are for future replacement.

By orange I'm guessing an amber orange?
Then at a guess I would say hannabach flamenco set 827 MT ... Hope the link solves it

Thanks so much. I had a feeling they were hannabach's. I did not know which set though. I appreciate you taking the time and uploading the pic. These trebles are the best I have tried, at least on the Carrillo.

Yes, from the descripton (amber/orange trebles) they sound like the Hannabach 827's. Very nice strings. . .

But why don't you contact John at Strings by Mail ( 1 800 513 8271) and ask him directly. He knows all the makes and types and can probably help you a lot. You could also try sending him a sample of your old strings for a more precise identification?

Worth a try. . .

Good luck.

Yes, they are great strings. Thanks for the advice. Funny you should mention strings by mail; I went ahead and ordered the treble string set there today. I am excited to put them back on my favorite guitar.

I will definitely send them a sample if the ones I receive are not the same.
