MarkMc -> Hello (Oct. 2 2005 1:15:44)

Hi,

I just joined the forum today. [:)] I've been playing classical & fingerstyle guitar for over 20 years. But I have always been interested in flamenco guitar.

I do have to tell you all that I had an industrial accident about 16 years ago which involved my right hand. I lost most of my "a" finger and the tip of my pinkie. However I've created a pick that fits on the tip of my pinkie that allows it to take the place of my "a" finger.

I've been studing flamenco on my own with online lessons/books and I am able to do
rasgueados like e, m, i, i(up). So I'm finding ways to accomplish certain techniques with what I have.

Does anyone know of a good flamenco guitar teacher in the Portland, OR area? I've looked but can't seem to find any. [:(]

I still need to get a flamenco guitar. I have an old 1983 Aria AC18 concert guitar with pretty low action. And with the capo it does sound more flamenco-ish. This is a very cool forum and all of you in here that I've heard play awesome!

I'm looking foward to learning flamenco and being able to play it properly.

Thanks,
MarkMc

Mark;

You might try contacting Patrick who is on this forum and lives in Portalnd. He might know of a good teacher.

A suggestion: Create a new Message with a title like, Guitar teacher needed in Portland, Oregon.

I just sent Pat a message about you needing a teacher in Portland.

Hi duende!

I spent some time in hear the other day and watch several of your videos man.
Wow you are one of the many great player who appear in this forum. And very gracious in sharing music and advice. Thank you.

I'm wondering how long it's going to take (years) before I can play a bularias correctly, hehe. [8D]

MarkMc -> RE: Hello (Oct. 2 2005 15:16:05)

oops that's bulerias..[8|]

duende -> RE: Hello (Oct. 2 2005 15:17:55)

oh it won´t be long. The more you listen the faster it getts into your system.
But the listening is just as important as the guitar practice if you are like most of us, not surrounded by this music since birth[:)]
