n85ae -> RE: Distilled water for case humidifier (Nov. 27 2012 22:03:57)

My case humidifiers are a kitchen sponge with all the excess water squeezed out, stuffed in a ziploc bag that's left open stuck in the case up under the tuners. It's cheap, it works better than most of the "case humidifers" you buy, and I could care less if they go bad. Replacements are cheap. Never had a problem with a guitar either from too much or too little humidity doing his. When the weather is super dry, I take old 35mm film containers stuffed with damp sponge, and with holes punched in them and hang them from the strings in the soundhole. I have owned some of the expensive commercial products but concluded most are glitzy crap ... Regards, Jeff
